Jen-Mar Business Machines Ltd. is a private company which was started in 1983 by Martin Xavier and his wife Jennifer, thus the name Jen-Mar. The company has substantially increased since its inception but remains a family owned business. The company originally started selling and servicing the Kington line of cash registers from Japan. Over the years, other product lines were added to meet the varied requirements of the growing customer base across a variety of industries. To support this it was necessary to open multiple branches, located in Port of Spain, San Fernando and Scarborough.

Currently, Jen-Mar’s customer journey takes the client through the identification their business’ needs, to solution proposal, implementation and training, and finally maintenance and support. This is possible as Jen-Mar is equipped with a full service department which can perform repairs and provide a variety of situation-tailored solutions. It is the policy of the company to always provide long-term technical support for any product sold to customers as well as support products not purchased from Jen-Mar when possible.

The company’s internal culture has always followed a horizontal management structure while creating a comfortable and often entertaining work-place environment. This has lead to the regular appearance of small vendors entering the office to sell products and staying for ‘old talk’. This presence of ‘old talk’ also extends to Jen-Mar customers who always have something to talk about with the staff when visiting Jen-Mar.
